The Dog Days of Summer

7/29/2013

Well, you might be wondering, what does the PFT crew do to keep them busy when they have 8 weeks between tournaments?  Well, here is a little peak at how we are enjoying the Dog Days of Summer.

For Sam it has been a summer of celebrations!  Sara graduated from grade 8, hard to believe that she is heading into
high school and Jordan graduated from high school!  Erin made the trip home from Ontario to celebrate her younger sibling’s accomplishments.  Then Sam travelled home with Erin and visited Ontario for a few days.  She had a great vacation, but missed the pups and was happy to get home to them.

Sonya has been busy playing in many ultimate tournaments this summer and training for upcoming Sectionals in Boston this September.  When not busy with ultimate, Sonya, James, Pongo and Nala have been spending most of the summer in Cape Breton.  They have been doing a lot of sailing, hiking and swimming.

Daniel, Braxton, the dogs and I have been spending a lot of time in our pool and at our camp on Peltoma Lake.  When the heat gets crazy, there is no better place to be than on the water!  Between swimming, dock diving and Braxton throwing the ball / rocks for the dogs, they are definitely keeping in shape.  Braxton is playing his first year of soccer and doing really well.  Daniel is back to playing softball after an 8 year hiatus and I have been busy training for my full marathon.  I have a 5 mile race coming up on August 11, a half marathon in September and if all goes as planned, my full marathon will take place in late October.  We were also on the organizing committee that helped plan the 2013 Canadian National Toller Speciality, which took place this past weekend!

Andrea has been busy getting ready to move into her new house on the North Side – in fact moving day was last week!  She and the dogs made sure to visit the Nashwaak and Tay Rivers nearly every day before they moved.
They :)will miss the area they are moving from, so she was sure to get in all the river walks she could!

Noelle and Carlie are enjoying their pool this summer.  Noelle taught Carlie how to climb the ladder out of the pool after she jumps in, she is great at it!  Noelle will soon be heading home to Newfoundland for a visit with her family; she is very excited to spend the first couple of weeks of August with them.

Steve has been busy painting the house and taking the dogs swimming.  He is looking forward to having some relatives visit in early August and going on a mini vacation while Mav & Calli stay at Nana Holly’s.

Dave has been enjoying his summer with Karen & the kids.  He is coaching Elizabeth’s baseball team and goes to all of her and Kyle’s games.  Despite his busy schedule, he makes sure that he still has time for his pups Callie & Maya who continue to get better and better each week at practice.

Marc & Tara have had a busy summer visiting family and having family stay with them.  They are also in the midst of preparing for their new addition – Baby Cote, who will arrive this December!

Stefani and the pups have been keeping busy with daily hikes and swims.  Stef is also teaching puppy classes with Amanda and of course, work is busy this time of year, no rest for a vet tech!

Amanda has been enjoying the summer with the pups and Pete.  She has also mastered the infamous “cups” song and was happy to show us all how freaking awesome she is at it by videotaping her performance and sending it to us!  I know when to admit defeat, you got me Keddy, you are not only better at cups, but you are a WAY better singer ;)

Joe, Corbie, Luke and Charlie have been enjoying the beautiful weather this summer.  Joe and Charlie only race in two tournaments a year, which are our home tournaments.  So Joe is really looking forward to August and racing Charlie again.

So there is a little peak into what we have been up to!  Throw in 2 practices a week, at home training and a few pool / camp parties and now you know how PFT enjoys the summer!

Countdown to our home tournament is on!  Closing date in one week from TODAY and we are so excited to hit the mats again :)

Until Next Time!
