We had a great tournament in Cap Pelé last weekend. Huge thank you to FAME for the fun tournament! The little extras that you do at your tournaments are awesome and we really appreciate them!
Congratulations to all of the new title earners from the weekend! I think there were 27 and so many new flyball dogs! It was great to see so many new dogs take to the lanes and do so well. Special mention to Carl & Kew who earned 70,000 and Richard & Shadow who earned the Hobbes Award (100,000 points), a first in Region 10! What an amazing accomplishment!
Both of our teams did fantastic this weekend. Aviators ran a new lineup that consisted of Nitsa, Callie, Brooke & Feist who posted a 16.406 with plenty of room end of the day on Sunday. We have practiced this lineup a lot, but this was the first time those 4 dogs have run together at a tournament. With the help of Maya and Pongo this team took first place both days in Regular 1. I am so proud of these dogs, but 2 get special mention. This was Nitsa’s first time racing in Regular 1 and she was a rock star. Completely focused and consistent, she looked like a pro on the lanes. Congrats to Sonya & Nitsa, all of your hard work paid off! Second special mention goes to Brooke. Brooke had a rough weekend in Oromocto and we ended up pulling her completely on Sunday of that tournament. Since then we have worked exhaustively on re-training her with a new technique to make her bring her ball back. Saturday at the start of racing she was a little shaky, but as the weekend went on, she did amazing! Bringing her ball back right to my feet in some cases. So very proud of that stubborn little Toller! Still lots of work to do with this team before the next tournament, but hopefully things will continue to improve as the dogs get used to racing together in this new lineup.
Red Eye also had a fantastic weekend, taking first both days in a very competitive Open 2. We were happy that Christine was able to run Kynkk & Oribt with us. They are always so much fun to run with. Congrats also to Christine & Orbit who had a perfect start, not an easy task!
Many thanks to Donna, George and Francis from Paws on Deck who helped our team out all weekend, you guys are amazing!
Next tournament is the long weekend, May 21 & 22 in Debert, NS. We look forward to seeing everyone in a few weeks!
Until Next Time,
Holly
