This past weekend FAME held the last tournament of the 2013-2014 racing season. This racing season has been a roller coaster for PFT for sure, so we were kind of excited to see it go and we are ready for a fresh start in the 2014-2015 season.
We love the Sackville arena and we were excited to be back racing there after a 5 year hiatus. We had to run two Open teams in this tournament because we had to moonlight as "All Sport Flyball" for the majority of the season. NAFA has a rule that states you cannot run on your current team for 90 days in order to switch to another team. Therefore, by running two Open teams at this last tournament, we will be able to get back to our Regular PFT team in the upcoming October tournament - YEAH!
Racing two Open teams was a little tough because it meant our Aviators team had zero back-up. Just 4 dogs to run all weekend and hope for no injuries. Thankfully they did just that! We took 1st on Saturday and 3rd on Sunday. On Sunday we were really going for best time of day which we did achieve.
We did have one backup on our Red Eye team. Trout was listed and as it turns out we did need him! Rev decided to lose his mind a little bit so our old Vet Trout stepped in for a few races each day. This team ended up 3rd on Saturday and improved to 2nd on Sunday, along with racking up some nice points. Big thanks to Christine & Kynkk for running with us!
We would like to thank the countless people who helped us out over the past weekend and the entire racing year. It is very tough to go to a tournament with only 5 members and recently, with one of those members (me) being extremely pregnant! It was great to have so many people jump up and give us a hand. I hate to point one person out, but I feel I have to. Thank you very much to Amanda Keddy from OMG. The last two tournaments she helped out by either running a dog for us, calling passes, ball shagging, you name it, she was out there pretty much every one of our races. Thank you so much Amanda :)
Congratulations to all of the new titles earners this past weekend, especially Piper, who became the 4th dog in our Region to earn 60,000 points. We would also like to congratulate Fast n' FURious on their Regional Championship for the 2013-2014 racing season - great job guys!
Not sure when PFT will hit the mats in the new racing season. It all really depends on when my little guy decides to arrive! We are hoping that he will come a little early and that way the team, including Daniel, will be able to make it to the Charlottetown tournament. If that does not work out, then we will for sure be heading to Truro in November.
Until next time!
