We had a blast racing at Carleton County Flyball Club’s inaugural tournament this past weekend. The facility was great, extra touches on the table were appreciated and the raffle was awesome! Not to mention the amazing volunteers and spectators who came out. Great job CC, we can’t wait to return next year.
Our team had a pretty great weekend. It started off with Nika officially measuring 9” – this is huge for our A team! Speaking of Nika, we are so proud of this little girlie! She was thrown into the position of start dog on Aviators because of an unexpected injury. She took it like a champ and ran flawlessly for Sonya all weekend. Consistent 3.9’s and 4.0’s and we know that she still has more to give. This was only her second tournament running full time and she did awesome!
Aviators had a great weekend taking first place in Division 1 both days. By doing this we were able to officially clinch Regional Championships for the 2015-2016 racing year! This was a huge team effort with 8 out of 9 active racing dogs contributing to this team goal: Nitsa (Sonya), Callie (Dave), Brooke (Holly), Feist (Daniel), Maya (James), Nika (Sonya), Pongo (Sonya) and Raine (Holly).
With the championships secured on Saturday, we decided to push it on Sunday for a new Regional Record. The record we were trying to break is 15.980 and on Sunday in our second race, we came very close, racing a 16.020! We won’t talk about who had a big pass (ahem: DANIEL!), but it’s all good. We still have a chance to go for it in Sackville in a few weeks.
Red Eye also had a great weekend finishing 3rd on Saturday and improving to 2nd on Sunday in a very competitive and fun Open 1. We are so happy that our friend Christine ran Kynkk with us and it was fun to race with Liz and Addie as well!
A couple of shout-outs for titles this weekend: Nika earned her FDCh-S and Christine’s dog Orbit earned his FM. Well done guys! Also a huge thank you to Dave Strauss for all of the amazing photos and videos from the weekend!
Looking forward to seeing everyone in Sackville in a few weeks! We are taking orders for apple crisps, so let me know if you want one ($10 each).
Until Next Time,
~Holly~
