This past weekend was our home tournament and the first tournament of 2016! We were so excited to hit the lanes after a very long winter of training.
We were at a new facility, the Kings Arrow Arena in Oromocto. We heard lots of great feedback about the facility, so we will be looking to secure it again in 2017. It was great to see some spectators come out and watch. I did have a chance to talk to some of them and everyone loved watching the dogs. Maybe it will spur some interest in the area and we will find some new flyball fanatics! To anyone that I did not have a chance to talk to, if you are interested in finding out more about the sport, feel free to contact us (just click the 'Contact Us' button at the top of the page).
This past weekend was full of ups and downs for PFT, but as usual the team pulled together, dogs ran their hearts out and we all had fun, so that is what matters most. Aviators took 1st place in Regular 1 on Saturday and 2nd on Sunday. Red Eye was 3rd on Saturday and 4th on Sunday in Open 1.
Big congratulations to all of the dogs who earned titles! There were a TON of new Flyball Dogs! It was clear that everyone was working hard over the winter. I am excited to see these new dogs race this season; it is going to be fun! Congrats also to our 'Dog of the Day' winners: Wager & Tonka!
Huge thank you to our wonderful judges Cy & Carl for doing an amazing job as usual, to Karen & Ellen who ran the head table and to everyone else who stepped in and line judged, box judged, etc. Thanks also to those members of OMG! who stayed and helped with tear down. As a team of 5, we appreciate all of the help we received!
Thank you to Christine for running Kynkk and Orbit with us. We love when you are able to race with us!
A few team accomplishments to mention. First and foremost, we are all so very proud of Nitsa. Sonya, James and the entire team have worked hard on prepping this girl to race and she rocked this weekend; earning her FDCh title. She also knocked out some pretty impressive times. Congrats to James who had a perfect start with Maya! Congrats also to Dave & Callie, who received their ONYX plaque, Sonya & Pongo who received their ONYX plaque and Dave & Maya who received their FMCh pin. Daniel and I also received our 10 year competitor pins and Trout’s IRONDOG award. Last but certainly not least, we received our 2014-2015 Regional Championship plaque!
Up next is FAME’s tournament in Sackville – April 30 & May 1st. Between now and then, we have plenty of things to work on, but that is what keeps it interesting.
Until Next Time,
~Holly~
