Holly has been a dog lover and sports fanatic her entire life. She has competed in various sports including: field hockey, softball, curling and rugby. In 2004, her husband Daniel discovered the Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever breed and they got Trout, their first dog together. That was the first time she combined her love of sports and dogs.
After Trout (2004-2016), they added Raine to the family in 2006 and that is when they became interested in breeding. Holly & Daniel are CKC registered breeders; under the kennel name “Redbrook”. Rev (2008-2018) became part of their pack in 2008, they kept a puppy from Raine’s “B” litter – Brooke, in November 2009. Their crazy little border/staffy Feist became part of the pack in April 2012, their sweet border/whippet named Fitz joined their family in December 2016; and their latest addition is Rowdy. Rowdy is Rev's daughter from his last litter. She joined the Kirkpatrick family in May 2018. Yes, you read right - 5 dogs!
Holly started Flyball in 2005, when she and Trout took classes. Playing competitive sports her entire life, she loves the team camaraderie and competition that comes with racing Flyball. She is hard to miss on the lanes, simply look for a loud voice! She has also been told that her high fives are something to be reckoned with, as she tends to get a little excited on the lanes!
Holly and Daniel were married on August 5, 2006. She and Daniel have two amazing sons – Braxton Daniel Wayne (May 20, 2010) and Corbin Kenneth Gerald (October 15, 2014). With the boys getting older, Holly has become very active in their team sports, managing their hockey & softball teams. Between a busy job promoting the City of Fredericton, two active boys, 5 crazy dogs, and running the Prepare for Takeoff Flyball club; Holly still finds time to enjoy her other passion – running. She competed in her first 10km race just short of Braxton turning one and has not looked back. Holly completed her first full marathon in May 2016 and is now back to training for half marathons as that is her favourite distance.
When not working, organizing her boys, racing on the lanes, or running, you will most likely find Holly relaxing watching a ball game (Go Jays!) or enjoying the camp that she and Daniel own on Peltoma Lake.
